Arab Bank has recently launched a special promotional campaign entitled “The trip of a 100 thousand miles begins with Arab Bank - Royal Jordanian Visa Platinum Credit Card” in collaboration with Royal Jordanian. This comes as part of the bank’s constant efforts to reward Visa Platinum credit cardholders with value-added promotions that meet their needs and expectations. 

The campaign, which will run until February 15th, 2020, entitles Arab Bank – Royal Jordanian Visa Platinum credit cardholders to double their miles for each transaction made using their Visa Platinum credit cards during the campaign period. The campaign also entails a raffle draw scheme offering prizes up to 100,000 miles to five winners within Royal Jordanian’s frequent flyer program “Royal Club”, which can be redeemed for airline tickets and upgrades when travelling with Royal Jordanian or any partner of the “oneworld” alliance. 

Commenting on this campaign, Head of Consumer Banking at Arab Bank – Jordan, Mr. Yacoub Matouk stated: “At Arab Bank, we continuously seek to introduce new offers and special campaigns to our customers offering value-added benefits to meet their evolving needs and fit their lifestyle.” He added: “This campaign, through its special doubled miles offer, provides an ideal opportunity for customers to apply for this card and benefit from its distinguished banking privileges.”

Ms. Yola Isaac, Managing Director - Frequent Flyer Program “Royal Club”, expressed Royal Jordanian’s delight towards their continued cooperation with Arab Bank by launching special offers that enable cardholders to collect miles through their daily purchases and transactions, both locally and abroad, especially considering the program’s array of privileges and rich rewards.  

Isaac further noted that the Frequent Flyer Program was recently updated to provide its members with the ability to redeem accumulated travel miles for vouchers through the Royal Club e-store and explore the various options listed from a range of merchants. This is in addition to offering a wide range of products for customers to gift their family and friends during the festive season as the offer is valid until February 2020.

Arab Bank Launches Special Promotional Campaign for Arab Bank - Royal Jordanian Visa Platinum Credit Card

EMEA Finance Magazine, headquartered in London, has recently awarded Arab Bank “Middle East’s Best Corporate Social Responsibility program 2019”. The award was presented in recognition of the bank’s remarkable achievements and commitment to its sustainability strategy.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award recognizes a single bank in the region that demonstrates a sustainable and consistent CSR program, which provides a real and quantifiable impact on the community it operates in. Arab Bank was selected for this award based on a number of important factors, including: a clear strategic vision and achievable objectives for the CSR program, and the presence of external reference points in the development and execution of the program such as the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), one of the most widely recognized guidelines for reporting.

Commenting on this prestigious award, Mr. Christopher Moore, CEO and publisher at EMEA Finance Magazine, said: “For the second time, we are recognizing Arab Bank's impressive work with our ‘Corporate Social Responsibility award’, which is one of our limited number of awards in the Middle East. Arab Bank Awarded “Middle East’s Best Corporate Social Responsibility” by EMEA Finance

Arab Bank in collaboration with Tkiyet Um Ali, has started the distribution of winter blankets to underprivileged families in a number of the Kingdom's governorates as part of “Lamset Dafa” initiative conducted for the eighth consecutive year. Around 1,400 blankets are being distributed during the winter season to underprivileged families, supported by Tkiyet Um Ali’s programs in Amman, Al Zarqa’, Al Balqa’, Al Mafraq and Aqaba.

The initiative, carried out by Arab Bank employees and Tkiyet Um Ali’s staff, aims at alleviating the burdens of underprivileged families during winter.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Tareq Haj Hasan - Senior Vice President, Head of Branding at Arab Bank said: “We are proud to renew our collaboration with Tkiyet Um Ali for the 8th consecutive year. We value the humanitarian role it undertakes in combating poverty and providing a decent life standards to the underprivileged in our community.” Haj Hasan added: “Lamset Dafa” is part of our constant efforts to support initiatives aimed at supporting the development of the local community, particularly those that contribute to poverty alleviation and the well-being of the underprivileged families across the Kingdom.”

Arab Bank Distributes Blankets to Underprivileged Families in Collaboration with Tkiyet Um Ali

Arab Bank has recently launched a special promotional campaign for its credit cardholders, offering them a host of benefits when shopping online using their credit cards with “Shop & Ship” from Aramex.
The campaign, which runs until 15/1/2020, allows Arab Bank credit and internet shopping cardholders to get cashback on their shipments covering the new customs fees amount for a maximum of 5 shipments or JOD 50 per customer. Furthermore, customers will receive double the reward points for the online purchases with the Arabi Points program. New subscribers will also benefit from a free lifetime “Shop & Ship “membership, in addition to “Shop and Ship Flex “account subscription for only USD 10 for the first year.

Arab Bank Launches Special Online Shopping Promotion

Arab Bank has recently opened its new branch “Salt Gate”, located at the city’s entrance, as part of the bank’s strategy to reinforce its branch network across the Kingdom and provide the highest levels of service to its customers.

Arab Bank Opens Its New Branch “Salt Gate”

Arab Bank Launches Special Promotion for Visa Cardholders

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Arab Bank has recently renewed its collaboration agreement with the Jordan Air Ambulance Center for the fourth consecutive year. The cooperation aims at supporting the center’s operations and reinforce its role in raising the standard of medical services across the Kingdom.

As part of the agreement, Arab Bank’s support will be directed towards the main services of the Air Ambulance Center, primarily the transportation of patients and injured persons aerially through rescue and evacuation missions using helicopters, from remote locations to specialized medical centers to receive the needed medical care in the emergency cases which requires such services.

Commenting on the bank’s support, CEO at Jordan Air Ambulance Center, Captain Rami Al Emoush stated that Arab Bank’s support reflects the leading community role it plays at the national level. For the Fourth Consecutive Year - Arab Bank Renews its support to Jordan Air Ambulance Center
Arab Bank recently concluded a new round, the second, in its internal program for innovation in the field of financial technology (Fintech) for its employees 'Intrapreneur'. During this round, five innovative ideas in the field of financial technology were selected from a wide range of ideas presented by Arab Bank staff in Jordan.

The launch of the Intrapreneur Innovation Program is an activation of Arab Bank's efforts in the field of banking innovation. This internal program encourages the bank's employees to provide ideas that entail new digital banking solutions that would help evolve the level of services offered by the bank in line with the needs and aspirations of its customers leveraging the latest technological developments associated with the evolving trends of digital revolution.

This six-month round of the program included several phases. Arab Bank staff in Jordan submitted more than 200 ideas, 17 of which were selected to participate in an 11-week workshop, which included intensive training courses and capacity building workshops in order to refine employees' ideas, explore their insights and educate them about design thinking and how to build the right business module map and agile project management methodology. During the last week of the workshop, participants from different departments presented their ideas to a judging panel from the bank. Five winning ideas were selected to receive the support and guidance needed to launch these ideas as banking services and solutions. Cash prizes were given to the top three ideas.

It is worth mentioning that Arab Bank launched the first round of the program 'Intrapreneur' in Jordan during May 2018, which received more than 140 ideas from the team in Jordan, and 4 ideas were selected to be executed as projects through the relevant departments.

Commenting on the program, Ms. Randa Sadik, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Arab Bank said: 'We are proud of the remarkable success of the Intrapreneur program, which is not only manifested through the significant increase in the number of ideas we have received from our employees, but also in the quality of these ideas. As part of its constant efforts to provide value-added offerings and special privileges to its “Elite” clients, Arab Bank has recently introduced a complementary life and permanent total disability insurance coverage up to USD 70,000 to its “Elite” program.

Arab Bank the Strategic Sponsor of UAB’s Forum on Financing “SMEs” and Start-up Companies

Arab Bank Group reported net income after tax for the nine month period ended 30 September 2019 of $668.9 million compared to $643.2 million in the prior period, recording a growth of 4%. The Group’s net income before tax grew by 6% to reach $912 million with net operating income reaching $ 1,040 million and recording a growth of 5%.

Mr. Sabih Masri, Chairman of the Board of Directors stated that the strong operating performance of Arab Bank Group confirms the strength of its franchise locally and abroad with its wide geographical diversification. He added that Arab Bank has recently opened a new branch in Shanghai in a move designed to strengthen its footprint in the Chinese market within its global network which includes about 600 branches across five continents.

Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh, Chief Executive Officer, stated that the underlying performance of the Group continues on its growth path with nine month period results recording a healthy increase of 5% in net operating income. He added that the strong performance was driven by growth in core banking income with net interest income increasing by 5%. Total loans increased by 3% to reach $26.1, and deposits increased by 4% to reach $34.7 billion.

Mr. Sabbagh remarked that Arab Bank Group enjoys high liquidity and strong and robust capitalization. Group’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 16.1% and loan to deposit ratio at %75.4 as of 30 September 2019. He added that the asset quality of the Group remains high and that credit provisions held against non-performing loans exceed 100%.

Mr. Sabih Masri expressed his confidence in the Group’s ability to maintain its leading position and to continue delivering strong results and sustainable growth.

Arab Bank Group profits grow by 4% to $669 million for nine month 2019

As part of Arab Bank’s corporate social responsibility program “Together” and in cooperation with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, a group of Arab Bank employees and their families recently volunteered to plant and irrigate 250 forest trees at Dibeen Forest Reserve, located in the north of the Kingdom.

Arab Bank’s participation in the reforestation campaign aims at increasing green areas across the Kingdom. The initiative included gardening works such as digging and transporting agricultural soil, planting trees, irrigation and landscaping. 

Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Tareq Haj Hasan - Senior Vice President, Head of Branding at Arab Bank, said: “Arab Bank's participation in the reforestation campaign is in line with its sustainability strategy and social responsibility towards raising environmental awareness and promoting volunteering efforts to protect the environment.” Haj Hasan added: “This initiative has enabled Arab Bank employees to volunteer their time and efforts towards preserving nature at one of Jordan's distinctive ecological areas. Thus, contributing to the constructive environmental efforts led by Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature while also supporting the development of ecotourism.” 

For his part, Mr. Yehya Khaled - Director General at RSCN stated that this ongoing collaboration between Arab Bank and the Society reflects the joint efforts exerted by civil society organizations and the private sector towards supporting many environmental initiatives, which consequently contribute to the development of the local community and national economy.

Arab Bank Supports Reforestation at Dibeen Reserve

Arab Bank has opened its new branch in Shanghai, China, in a move to strengthen the bank’s footprint in the Chinese market as part of its global network comprising more than 600 branches across five continents.

The opening of the new branch comes after Arab Bank obtained the approval from China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) to upgrade its representative office in Shanghai into a fully operational branch, reinforcing its Asian presence, which also covers Singapore and South Korea.

Arab Bank started its presence in China back in 1985 becoming one of the first Arab banking institutions to have a footprint in China.

Celebrating the opening of the new branch, Arab Bank held a dinner reception in Shanghai in the presence of Mr. Sabih Masri, Chairman of Arab Bank and Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh, CEO of Arab Bank, who met during their business trip to China a number of officials from the Chinese banking sector in Beijing and Shanghai.  The dinner was attended by representatives of the Shanghai Banking Association, Chinese and international banking bodies as well as corporate and business figures.

Commenting on this milestone, Mr. Masri stated: “The opening of the new branch in China is in line with the bank's strategy to expand its network in fast growing global markets, such as China, the second largest economy in the world".

Mr. Sabbagh stated: “Through our new branch in China, we will be providing diversified and integrated banking and financing solutions to our corporate clients targeting the Chinese market as well as meeting the needs of Chinese companies operating in the MENA region.”

Arab Bank Opens a New Branch in Shanghai

Arab Bank has renewed its cooperation agreement with the Jordanian Marathon Association “Run Jordan”, to be the Gold Sponsor of Samsung Amman Marathon taking place during October 2019. Arab Bank Renews its Support to Amman Marathon

Arab Bank recently opened a new branch on Airport Road - next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - as part of the Bank's strategy to reinforce its branch network across the Kingdom and provide levels of service that match the evolving needs and requirements of its customers.

Arab Bank Launches “Tabeeb Plus” Banking Package to Physicians

Arab Bank was the diamond sponsor of the seventh Conference of Jordanian Expatriates Businessmen and Investors entitled "Development and Building Partners" under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein. The conference was organized by the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the Businesspeople Association of Jordanian Expatriates (BAJE) in cooperation with the ministry of foreign affairs and expatriates and the Jordan Investment Commission.

The conference covered numerous topics, including the investment climate in the Kingdom, business opportunities, incentives offered to Jordanian investors, prospects for expatriate investment in Jordan, success stories abroad, the role of industrial cities, developmental, private and free zones in attracting investments to Jordan, the role of Jordanian diplomatic missions in promoting investment, overcoming challenges faced by investors abroad in addition to the launch of "My Country, a Priority" initiative with the aim of attracting Jordanian capital abroad. On the sidelines of the conference, field visits were arranged to the Dead Sea development zone, Queen Alia International Airport free zone, Al Muwaqqar industrial city and Ma'an development zone to examine the sites’ current infrastructure and identify investment opportunities.

Arab Bank Diamond Sponsor of the Seventh Conference of Jordanian Expatriates Businessmen and Investors

Arab Bank and King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) have recently renewed their memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which Arab Bank will support the “Back to School” Program at KHCF for the academic year of 2019-2020.

The “Back to School” program allows young patients to complete their education as they undergo treatment at King Hussein Cancer Center. A special classroom, supported by Arab Bank, is allocated to fulfill this purpose where two teachers assigned by the Ministry of Education oversee the program and liaise between patients and their schools. Arab Bank’s support to the program also covers several aspects, including: weekly classes taught by the bank’s volunteering employees, school supplies such as stationery, books and computers, as well as the support to specific educational needs such as field trips, educational courses and school tuition for children with special needs.

Arab Bank & King Hussein Cancer Foundation Renew Agreement in Support of “Back to School” Program
Arab Bank Group announced its results for the first half of 2019 reporting a growth of 4% with net profit after tax reaching $453 million as compared to $436 million in 2018. Total loans increased by 3% to reach $26.2, and deposits increased by 3% to reach $34.1 billion. Group equity stood at $ 8.7 billion.

Mr. Sabih Masri, Chairman of the Board of Directors commented that despite the continued slowdown of economic growth in the region, the Group continues to deliver strong financial performance, which affirms the Bank’s effective management of risks and its ability to deal with the challenging environment.

Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh, Chief Executive Officer, stated that the underlying performance of the Group continues on its growth path with first half results recording a healthy increase of 5% in net operating income. He added that the strong performance was driven by growth in core banking income with net interest income increasing by 5%.

Mr. Sabbagh remarked that Arab Bank Group enjoys high liquidity and strong and robust capitalization. Group’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 15.8% and loan to deposit ratio at 76.9% as of 30 June 2019. He added that the asset quality of the Group remains high and that credit provisions held against non-performing loans exceed 100%.

Mr. Sabih Masri expressed his confidence in the Group’s ability to maintain its leading position and to continue delivering strong results and sustainable growth.

Arab Bank Named the Middle East’s Best Bank 2019 by Euromoney – London

Arab Bank has recently released its ninth annual sustainability report. The bank’s 2018 sustainability report provides information regarding Arab Bank’s social, environmental and economic performance and achievements during 2018.

The report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Standards using the Comprehensive option, which reflects the highest levels of transparency and disclosure.

The report comes as part of the bank’s ongoing commitment towards integrating sustainability into its operations, in a strategic manner that dovetails with the bank’s constant efforts to support sustainable social, economic and environmental development.

The launch of Arab Bank’s ninth annual Sustainability Report reflects the bank’s leading position at the Sustainability front, both locally and regionally. The bank was one of the first financial institutions in the region to issue sustainability reports annually based on the international standards and in line with the best practices in this respect.
 
The report features the bank’s achievements across its five main sustainability focus areas as part of Arab Bank’s sustainability strategy; these include: responsible financing, employee empowerment, transparent reporting, system optimization, and community cooperation. 2018 marked a year of significant progress in realizing Arab Bank’s sustainability goals on the economic, social and environmental fronts.

Arab Bank Issues Its Ninth Annual Sustainability Report

Arab Bank and Haya Cultural Center have recently signed an exclusive joint agreement to launch a new program entitled "The Art of Saving", with an aim of introducing children to the importance of saving, basic ATM functions and banking operations in an innovative manner. The program endeavors to do so by raising children’s awareness and providing them with new technical skills. This will be done through a series of workshops that combine design with mechanics in order to create a mock-up ATM, in addition to producing an educational play specifically for children. The program targets approximately 1,800 students from differing areas within the Kingdom.

Arab Bank Launches its Digital Onboarding Service through “Arabi Mobile” App

Arab Bank has recently launched a new mobile payment service “Arabi MobiCash”- the first of its kind in the Kingdom. The new service enables users to make payments through debit and credit cards via their smartphones. 

Users can upload their debit and credit cards onto their smartphones through “Arabi MobiCash” App in order to make payments seamlessly through the cards without presenting them at selected merchants who accept payments through the new service.
The new App offers a host of comprehensive features, including the ability to receive invoices using the QR Code or by entering the invoice number via the smartphone in order to pay it through the App. The application also offers the advantage of conducting payments without the need to be physically present at the merchant’s site, in addition to transferring bills easily and securely to other “Arabi MobiCash” users. The App also provides detailed reports and dashboards covering all transactions besides many other features.

Arab Bank Launches Promotional Campaign for Visa Credit Cardholders during Ramadan

Arab Bank Group announced its results for the first quarter of 2019 reporting 5.2% growth in net profit after tax of $231.8 million as compared to $220.3 million in 2018, with net income before tax increasing by 9.1% to reach $312.8 million. Group equity stood at $ 8.5 billion, while loans increased to reach $25.8 billion and deposits increased to $33.7 billion.

Mr. Sabih Masri, Chairman of the Board of Directors stated that the performance of Arab Bank Group confirms the success of the Group in generating strong results despite the backdrop of the challenging operating environment.

Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh, Chief Executive Officer, stated that the underlying performance of the Group continues on its growth path with first quarter results recording a healthy increase in net operating income. He added that the strong performance was driven by growth in core banking income with net interest income increasing by 7% as well as by lower provisions.

Mr. Sabbagh remarked that Arab Bank Group enjoys high liquidity and strong and robust capitalization. Group’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 15.5% as of 31 March 2019. He added that the asset quality of the Group remains high and that credit provisions held against non-performing loans continue to exceed 100%.

Arab Bank Opens Dabouq Branch in its New Location

Arab Bank Launches Special Promotional Campaign Mother’s Day

Arab Bank Strategic Sponsor of Combating Financial Crimes Forum

Arab Bank Group closed 2018 with solid results reporting net income after tax of $820.5 million as compared to $533 million in 2017 with net income before tax reaching $ 1.1 billion. The Group’s equity grew to reach $8.7 billion while the return on equity increased to reach 9.5%. In view of the solid results, the Board of Directors has recommended to the shareholders the distribution of 45% cash dividends for the financial year 2018.

The Group’s net operating income grew by 8% driven by growth in net interest and commission income. Credit facilities increased by 3% to reach 25.8 billon while customer deposits increased to reach $34.3 billion.

Mr. Sabih Masri, Chairman of the Board of Directors stated that the strong performance of Arab Bank Group confirms the success of the Group in dealing with the challenging and changing operating environment and reflects the Group’s prudent operating policies.

Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh, Chief Executive Officer, stated that the solid results of Arab Bank Group for 2018 were driven by sustainable growth in the underlying business, spread improvements and well controlled expenses. Mr. Sabbagh remarked that Arab Bank Group enjoys strong liquidity and robust capitalization. The Group’s loan-to-deposit ratio stood at 75% while capital adequacy ratio calculated in accordance with Basel III regulations improved to reach 15.6%. He added that the asset quality of the Group remains high, with credit provisions held against non-performing loans standing above 100%, excluding the value of collaterals.

As the legal cases filed in the US in 2004 have been put into finality, the Bank reversed $325 million of excess legal provisions into income. Also, and in line with the Bank’s conservative policies, the Bank booked $225 million impairment against the value of its investment in Turkey, the amount of which is mainly the result of currency depreciation.

Mr. Masri concluded by remarking that the encouraging results will continue to support the strong financial performance of the Group and its position in its markets.

Arab Bank was named “Bank of the Year in the Middle East for 2017” by The Banker – Financial Times, London and “Best Bank in the Middle East for 2018” by Global Finance, New York for the third year consecutively. Arab Bank Renews its Collaboration Agreement with Charity Clothing Bank

As part of Arab Bank's corporate social responsibility program “Together”, the bank recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature to support the development and implementation of several community and environmental initiatives aimed at developing Fefa Village in Southern Ghour. Arab Bank – Jordan has recently launched a promotional campaign in collaboration with MasterCardTM, the leading global payments and technology company and the official sponsor of UEFA Champions League 2019 in Madrid, which includes numerous valuable prizes including free trips to UEFA Champions League final games taking place during June 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

Arab Bank Launches Promotional Campaign in collaboration with MasterCard to Win Trip to UEFA Champions League Finals

In recognition of the significant role played by its volunteers as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility program “Together”, the bank has recently honored its employees who have participated in a range of volunteering activities and initiatives, throughout the past year.

The honoring ceremony took place at the bank’s head office building and was attended by Arab Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Miss Randa Sadik in addition to several department heads and employees. This annual ceremony comes in recognition of Arab Bank’s employees who have volunteered their time and efforts during the year in various activities and initiatives aimed at serving the local community in many areas, including health, poverty alleviation, education, orphan support and environmental protection.

In his opening speech at the ceremony, Mr. Sabbagh expressed his pride and appreciation of the outstanding efforts exerted by the bank’s volunteers throughout the past year, stating: “Community support and volunteering are integral part of the bank’s culture. Our employees are always encouraged to participate in volunteering activities and initiatives stemming from the bank’s sustainability strategy which aims at optimizing the bank’s economic, social, and environmental impact and contributing to building a well-integrated volunteering framework in the community.”

Mr. Sabbagh added: “The constant increase in the number and hours of volunteering activities, reflects our employees’ deep understanding of the value of volunteering and their passion towards making a meaningful positive change in their community. It also embodies their true loyalty to their organization and society.”

Commenting on the participation of the bank’s employees in the program during 2018, Mr. Tareq Haj Hasan, Senior Vice President, Head of Branding at Arab Bank said: “The number of community initiatives carried out by the bank’s volunteers over the past year reached 61 initiatives, implemented by 359 employees from various departments, whilst the number of volunteers’ participations reached 1001.” He further added: “The total number of beneficiaries from the community initiatives and activities supported by the bank during the past year, as part of its sustainability efforts, has reached nearly 236,000 beneficiaries across the Kingdom.”

At the end of the ceremony, the employees expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation of the recognition they received from the bank which represents an opportunity for them to reaffirm their continued commitment towards supporting their community and contributing towards achieving sustainable development.

It is important to note that the program “Together” is not limited only to employee volunteering, but it also offers the bank’s customers the opportunity to support non-profit organizations that are participating in the program by making donations through the bank’s different channels; including: the internet banking service “Arabi Online” and telephone banking service “Hala Arabi”, in addition to the contributions that could be made at the bank’s branches and ATMs across the Kingdom.
